Few Lambretta TS1 facts gained from
chatting to Taffspeed. The Taffspeed TS1 road exhaust will peak at 8000 rpm max,
whilst 6500 rpm is normal for a 225cc. The standard exhaust port width is 40mm,
but opening this up to 44/45mm & rounding it off (7-8% higher) will give approx.
2-4bhp. Nothing, if anything is done to the transfer or inlet ports. This is the
Taffspeed fast/quick road tune which I'll be getting done. You loose a bit of
bottom end, but gain it on the top end. I'll add this info to the
TS1 tuning page.

I'm not a total Lambretta bigot you know!
I do own a 1968 Vespa SS180 which I got off of a good mate, (Mike
Mauer "Power") in the US. It's not run for years & probably needs an engine
rebuild (seals, bearings etc.) However it is a nice looking classic scoot & I
will be getting it running next year for my wife (girl's bike!).

Replaced
clutch cable on SX200, typically it wasn't straight forward and took over an
hour! Still need to adjust & next time the headset is off replace the outer
cable which is shagged

Updated rebuild progress of my
TS1 GP225 (none). Also planning a page based upon my experience importing &
registering etc. scooters (for personal use) into the US & UK.

Found the knackered TS1 top end in
amongst 10 zillion boxes. Sending this off to
Taffspeed for him to work his magic on!

The
SX200 started after about 6 kicks. Took it for it's MOT but as I'd forgotten the
US title the garage wouldn't do it. Booked in for next week. Decided to ride it
home but the clutch cable snapped up at the lever, don't you just love
Lambrettas?

Found all the keys to my scoots so I'll be
taking the SX200 to a garage this weekend to get an MOT. This is the first step
in getting it on the road. However it's raining so much at the moment I'm not
sure when I'll get to ride it!

All our crap has arrived in a 60ft
container from the USA. Somewhere in there is the top end of my TS1 which I
intend to get ported & relined since the big end blew in Sept. 00 on a 250 mile
the ride up to Vancouver BC.

05 December 00 |
Have to get the SX200 UK registered
which involves getting insurance and MOT and dealing with VRO (vehicle
registration office) to get an age related number plate (not the dreaded Q
plate)

One of the founding members of our local
scooter club "Lost Souls" has his souped up yellow Vespa racer featured in the
December 2000 edition of Scootering magazine - nice one Stu!

Well my 3 scooters have finally arrived
from the USA. They all cleared UK customs & I drove down to Romford in Essex in
a van to collect them. They're currently sitting in my sisters garage at the
moment. The SX200 is the only one running as the GP225 TS1 has a blown engine
(half of which is not with the scooter) and the Vespa SS180 needs a total engine
rebuild & hasn't run for years
