Lifes a lot better when you ride a Lambretta

31 December 01 Well pissed off with the 5-plate clutch conversion situation on my Lambretta GPTS1 225. I've only just had a chance to fit the clutch bell, but upon inspection found that the work done does not allow the 5-plate clutch to sit any lower, as it's snagging on the grooves machined out. So I've had to send the whole unit back to AF Rayspeed to get it reworked properly.
15 December 01 I'm not a complete Lambretta bigot  & also own a Vespa SS180. Here's some pictures of a nice midnight blue one that belongs to a guy I know in Portland, Oregon [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] who is the same lucky chap who owns the primo GP/DL I posted pictures of earlier this year [1] [2] [3]
10 December 01 Here's another link, this time for the unforgettable myth of Lambretta which has come back to life as an electric version. All for a mere 999EURO ($888/£618) or 1399 EURO ($1242/£866)!!!!
07 December 01 Here's a link to a low cost clip in hydraulic disk conversion  from ScooterWorld UK. This means you don't have to modify the original backplate.
06 December 01 Check out this long range Lambretta gas tank from Burns Scooter Services, as featured in November 2001 Scootering Magazine. I'm ordering one for a friend so will feed back on quality when I can get in contact with this lot!
05 December 01 If you've ever wanted the Lambretta font used on this site, click here.
01 December 01 Updated the scoot girls page recently, click here.
30 November 01 Just brought a huge motorbike to get to work on which makes the ~35 miles ride to work a bit more interesting & gives me an opportunity to terrorise innocent citizens! Don't give me no shit about selling out etc. I've still got the GP225TS1 & SS180.
25 November 01 Here's some pics of a nice Lambretta front disk conversion that is apparently available from the Saigon Scooter Centre in Vietnam [1] [2] [3] [4] Contact them for details.
18 November 01 The SX200 has now been sold. Got the clutch crown wheel back from AF Rayspeed. Quick turn around (pics to be posted soon-ish)
15 November 01 This is a cool screen saver from Paul Frank. Cartoon pigs, monkeys, giraffes, racoons on scooters, very funny.
13 November 01 Uploaded a set of pics related to basic reassembly of a Lambretta disk brake. Click here, for the initial set. I'll do a  "How To" section on this sometime soonish!
9 November 01 Updated pictures of the SX200 I have for sale, click here.
5 November 01 As mentioned below the SX200 is for sale. Price is £2995, click here for additional details. Removed the clutch bell of  the TS1 & sent off to AF Rayspeed for modification for the 5 plate clutch. Here are some before pictures [1] [2] [3] [4
31October 01 Fitting a set of replacement front brake shoes to my SX200. Decided to sell the SX200 as I haven't ridden it for months.
23 October 01 Looks like I'll have to get the clutch basket modified to accommodate. I may fit a 47 tooth sprocket so am considering getting this modified instead. Either way I have to dismantle the engine side again.
23 October 01 Our daughter Maisie Elizabeth Lloyd was born at 16:08 GMT today (23rd October 2001)
15 October 01 What a frigging nightmare I've been having with this 5 plate clutch! After fitting & several attempts at adjusting it's still not releasing properly.
05 October 01 Ordered a new complete 5 plate clutch from AF Rayspeed for ~£24, so have the clutch plates soaking in gearbox oil & will be fitting sometime soon.
30 September 01 Here's some pictures of an old AF Super S type 250 GP that was rescued before someone could paint it matt black! [1] [2] [ The original 250 lump has long since gone &  in its place at the moment is a fairly standard SX200 engine with GP200 top end, 30mm carb and Jahspeed exhaust.
27 September 01 Bastard scooters!! Took the TS1 out for a ride last night  night to test the clutch & its still slipping! Stopped & thought it was just an adjustment but no it's just as bad as before. I blame myself as I only installed 5 springs, whereas before it had 10. So I'm not sure if I should another 5 PX200 springs over the new Taffspeed springs that are in there or bite the bullet & fit a 5 plate unit
21 September 01 Swapped the TS1 front disk brake pads over with kevlar flavours (big improvement)  & installed a halogen 12V 35W bulb with Bosch fitting into the front light. Should make this evil machine a bit safer now the nights are drawing in!
18 September 01 The TS1 is now back on the road after rebuilding the clutch which was completely fried. I'll post some pictures but in the meantime I've documented a Lambretta clutch rebuild, click here.
15 September 01 Updated links page with a few more reputable sites.
11 September 01 After racing the TS1 up & down the A3 at the weekend the clutch is now completely knackered, after only 1000 miles. Managed to limp home at 40mph. Just shows how much additional power is going through the engine since the road race tune! The last set of plates lasted 3000 miles. I'll fit these plates this week & post pictures of the old plates. Also fitting 12V 25W halogens to both Lambrettas as the dark nights are closing in.
02 September 01  Check out this beautiful original GP/DL200 that a fellow Brit in Portland, Oregon  is shipping to the US from Vittorio Tesseras collection [1] [2] [3
01 September 01  After lending my SX200 out for the IOW found that one of the front disk brake pads has disintegrated. So removed & dismantled that & will order new pads. Need to lavish  some love on this machine as I've been neglecting it lately.
30 August  01 I never made it to the Isle of Wight due to family commitments. However one of my scoots did as one of my best mates Jay borrowed my SX200 & went. Jay has also just sold his Vespa and brought a TV175 Series III from Lambretta Land so is busy getting that MOT'ed and registered. Click here for some pics [1] [2] [3] [4
17 August  01 As mentioned on 17 July I'm still looking for Lammie frame to place a Yamaha RD350LC YPVS engine I have into (click here & here for pics). As there are already several series III versions of this around I'm considering series II, LD or even an early model A/B/C/D frame. It would have to be a wreck though as being a Lambretta nut I wouldn't want to chop a good frame about! So if you have one & live in the UK let me know!
15 August  01 Since the demise of ScooterTrash XXX I've created a page dedicated to semi clad scooter girls & women on or near scoots. This is now available here.
14 August  01 OK back from vacation now. Seen millions of scooters in Spain, mainly plastic fantastic & only 4 Lambrettas. Have had a rethink on the tuned engines so am now offering Lambretta engines completely rebuilt & fitted either an Imola/Monza 185/200/215 or for the 200 case's AF Rayspeed Rapido or TS1 22/225 kits. Include new bearings, seals, gaskets, decent race crank & 12V electronic ignition. Just need to work out a price. Click here for details. NOTE: I'm no longer offering this service.
24 July 01 Click here for a Acrobat .pdf catalog from Betta tools. Some great hard to find tools in here, far better than most shops offer.
22 July 01 Looks like Portland, Oregon will be hosting AmeriVespa in 2002. Check out the Acrobat .pdf patch/flyer here.
17 July 01 Out on the TS1 last night thrashing the arse off it (~85mph along the A3). Ride to work day tomorrow. Inspired by A5 John Barnett's "Yambretta" (RD250LC YPVS) & other 120mph+ Lambretta monster transplants I've located a cheap RD350LC YPVS engine. So not exactly an original idea but I'm considering forcing this it into a Lambretta series II/III frame. Should keep me frustrated & swearing for a few months over the Winter!!
12 July 01 Here's some pictures of "Scootmaster" made entirely from pieces of rotovator, tractors, kiddies bicycle's & other crap by Mike Siebert in Portland, Oregon USA. He's a crazy dude & this is his 2nd or 3rd creation.
10 July 01 After spending sooo much time on my TS1 it runs great now. Just been down to Camber with the rest of the Lost Souls SC with absolutely no problems at all. Didn't spank it too much as only 500 miles on clock since rebuild but had an easy 80 mph out of it. Camber was a good laugh, Mark from CCSC in Canada (good guy) came over & used my SX200 down there.
5 July 01 Thanks to AF Rayspeed for getting my rebuilt Bitubo back in time for Camber Sands rally. TS1 running great, jetting about right & plug is a nice chocolate brown (ish)
30 June 01 OK it's been a while since I updated, been busy getting my TS1 running sweet. Thanks to Ian & Mark at MB Developments for much needed advice (in the absence of a local Dyno). Runs much leaner than before, but crisper.
27 June 01  Have Mark Hubber from Capital City Scooter Club, Victoria BC coming over for Camber  Sands on 6/7/8th July 2001.
18 June 01 Updated the carbs page with a parts list & diagram for the Dellorto VHSA/VHSB carburettor  plus another carb tuning guide link courtesy of MB Developments.
12 June 01 Check out the excellent information source for Lambretta tuning on the MB Developments site.
10 June 01 Rode to coast this weekend on the TS1, no real problems apart from it's a gas guzzler! Still not that happy since I've had the road/race tune, lacking in bottom end & can't seem to keep it running in the sweet spot. Also stutter & holds back apart from when the throttle is fully open.
8 June 01 Here's a pic from Seattle Ryan riding his shitbox Monster Lambretta. This has a LI150 frame extended 1 foot, with rear of LD150 welded on, cut LD150 legshields with headlight & LI150 headset. Engine is an LI150 with 175 top end. Click here for a picture.
6 June 01 Front forks now completely rebuilt & disk brake links fitted with new front disk brake operational [1,2]. Boiled the brakes on a short test drive but once adjusted properly all OK. New front suspension is a big improvement, however the rear Bitubo shock has started seriously leaking oil all over the rear tyre. This has only just been rebuilt & I've done less than 150 miles on it.
3 June 01 Eventually managed to strip down the front forks (removal of early type links without the correct tool is a nightmare) Found I don't have the correct spring guide rods for later links, so will need to order new ones tomorrow!!!
2 June 01 Made a trip down to All Styles, Southsea to get new front dampers & bolts to hold these onto the links
30 May 01 Couldn't be bothered waiting to get my digital camera back so I rebuilt the disk brake last night. I've been updating the site today, mainly the TS1 page which has some more information based upon my recent pain!
29 May 01 Went for another ride last night & 2 bad things happened. Firstly I lost a nut & washer holding the front wheel on! The added strain then snapped off the opposite side suspension support strut on a sharp left hander, not far from home. Front suspension is now totally fucked & requires rebuilding. Good thing is this will give me an opportunity to fit the progressively wound springs, rebound rubbers, disk brake fork links & disk brake which I've had lying around & have been meaning to do. For added frustration I'll wait until I get my digital camera back so I can document all this.
28 May 01 OK got the TS1 engine back into the frame & she runs sweet, no more leak. Although I should be running it in I kept up with a couple of superbikes and a Harley on a long ride.
21 May 01 My 13 year old son & I jumped on the Lambretta SX200 on Sunday morning & drove up to London Hyde Park for the Great London Ride Out. Lovely day, good ride - even my son enjoyed it! (reluctantly in the end)
19 May 01 Ended up taking the whole engine out of the Lambretta to get the barrel off. It was either that or fiddle around removing the inlet manifold etc. Anyway as the TS1 spacer, barrel & head use no gaskets the leak was coming from a large nick in the crankcase face. Had to remove the barrel studs & dress the face with JB Weld (chemical metal), then leave overnight to cure. Another crap task was to remove the old red hermetite sealant from the barrel, head, spacer etc. What a complete frigging nightmare, now have to reassemble!
14 May 01 Have updated the tuning section to include a bearings section which includes pictorial instructions for removing & refitting drive & magneto bearings
11 May 01 Lovely evening so went out for a quick ride on the TS1 to get some petrol (it only does around 50 miles per full tank!) The leak is getting worse so I'll take it off the rode until this is fixed.
10 May 01 Rode the TS1 over to Woking last night with J & Lee for the Lost Souls meeting. Going OK although I do need to sort out the leak at the base of the barrel - soon!
08 May 01 Uploaded remaining pics from TS1 rebuild which inc. fitting the reed valve, carb  & exhaust. Click here
04 May 01 Last things done inc. new main bulb & tighten cables & the GP225TS1 sailed thru the MOT. There's a very small oil\air leak on the base of the barrel where it meets the crank case but other than that it run's fine. Performance is a lot different with the Taffspeed road tune on the TS1 barrel. There's less bottom end power available, but once it hits the power band it takes off, with more power than before. Still need to get road tax & run it in for another 500 miles but so far so good.
03 May 01 Fitted the Taffspeed exhaust, added super unleaded petrol with 3%  (33:1) synthetic oil mix , gave it one kick & it started right up. Also sprayed the engine cowls, but these need a second coat. After that rode the SX200 over to Lost Souls SC meeting in Woking.
02 May 01 Did loadsa stuff to the TS1 last night. All cables/wiring fitted and almost ready to go just need to fit engine cowls & exhaust.
24 April 01 Finally got the engine in the frame. Need to finish off spraying the engine & flywheel cowls (with enamel paint which  keeps running) & fit these. Connect up cables, wiring & see how it goes this weekend.
16 April 01 The afternoon was the only time I had to work on TS1 engine over the Easter weekend. Managed to pretty much finish off the rebuild. Again took pictures of  most of this, just a few more to upload!
11 April 01 Went to see Ocean Colour Scene last night at the Guildford Civic hall. Good gig, interrupted only by an entire building evacuation due to a fire bell being set off.
10 April 01 Uploaded a few more images from the Lambretta TS1engine rebuild, click here
05 April 01 Rode out to Lost Souls SC meeting last night on the SX200, almost there & had a soft sieze! Engine seems OK  but this is the first time in over 800km! Must be unleaded 95 octane fuel, or the fact that I was thrashing the arse off it. UPDATE: Seems UK unleaded petrol has a lower octane rating than US - stick to super unleaded from now one with a 2% mixture (25:1) for this standard scoot.
04 April 01 Check out the new Lambretta 200/225 Performance Cylinder Kit from AF Rayspeed
02 April 01 Updated the Carburettor & Jetting page with some information on jetting your TS1.
01 April 01 Changed the drive side bearing, fitted the crank & clutch as part of the  Lambretta TS1engine rebuild. To start with I've uploaded some of the images of this here, and the step by step guide will be ready sometime this week.
30 March 01 Finally got round to working on my TS1 engine. Removed drive and magneto side bearings, oils seals etc. & clutch dismantled. All captured on camera for an upcoming "How To" on this web site. Plan to replace the bearings, gaskets, seals etc & rebuild some the engine over the weekend.
26 March 01 If your in or around Portland, Oregon in early April go to Spring Scoot 7
20 March 01 Just added a troubleshooting section which to start with discusses getting your Lambretta to start.
19 March 01 Well no progress with the TS1, too busy in the evenings & spent Saturday in the pub drinking Guinness. Sunday was spent making up for Saturday with my lovely wife, although did ride down to the Red Lion for a scooter meeting, saw J, Lee, Higgsy etc., & my friend Guinness! New club starting "The Immediates"
12 March 01 Now got the rebuilt Bitubo rear shock back from AF Rayspeed, so no excuses, I now have everything ready to rebuild the TS1 & get it on the road. This should be happening evenings of this week & at the weekend. I'll be capturing the entire process for your entertainment & to provide some badly needed new content for the site.
10 March 01 Trying to get enough pictures together for a Scooter Porn page. This valuable resource & reference seems to be sadly missing from the majority of scoot sites
8 March 01 Lost Souls  SC meeting last night in Woking. Ocean Colour Scene playing at Guildford Civic Hall in April.
5 March 01 Been in France snowboarding with some mates including Jim Trot (Hardly Rideables/Jailbirds) & another top geeza & ex-member of the Midhurst Detours - Ali B.
25 February 01 I'm on vacation from tomorrow until 5th March 2001. I'll update this page later.
24 February 01 Arrived back in UK this afternoon, sunny afternoon, wife & son out so off for a quick ride on the SX - lovely
21 February 01 Not much to report this week as I'm working hard in California. Here's some pictures (none of mine) from Vegas for your entertainment including one of the Servetta I borrowed with Wussy02 sitting on it..
19 February 01 Got back from Vegas last night. What a laugh, best US rally I've been on. Excellent ride out to Hoover Dam, no sleep, spent & lost loadsa money, drank till I couldn't stand - the place is perfect for a rally, 24 hour crazy. Really good turnout with between 175-200+ scoots.
14 February 01 Arrived in California this morning. Sorted out a place to stay this weekend in Las Vegas with the Portland, Oregon crew & checked the Lambretta Jet 200 is on the Seattle truck bound for VEGAS!!
13 February 01 Some bad resolution pictures of Seattle Ryan's GP150 scoot are now up, check them out here.
12 February 01 Popped down the Red Lion in Milford lunchtime. Met up with Lee, Gregor & an A5 member Timmy. Weather shitty as normal. Few Guinesses then back to crate up the scoot. I'll post some pictures later.
9 February 01 Picked up a Gilera Runner 180 crate from A4 Scooter Store to ship the GP150 in. Good bunch of blokes there, recommended shop. Bloody thing just about fits in my car, although I still have problems changing into 1st, 2nd & reverse!
6 February 01 Had someone drop off an original Innocenti GP150 last night, for Ryan in Seattle, WA. I'm crating it up & he's having it shipped back.
5 February 01 I'm working in Sacramento, California for a while & as this happens to overlap the Las Vegas rally weekend I booked a flight with Southwest airlines &  I'll be there! Ryan's got the Servetta 200 on the truck so I'm sorted.
4 February 01 Fitted number plate & tax disk, & SX200 TRX 248D is now on the road. Obviously it was pissing down with rain but nevertheless had a ride with a local scooterist, Gregor from the Jailbirds SC.
2 February 01 Dropped the disk brake off for 2 pack spraying & the engine cowls for vapour blasting & priming. Also got my number plate from The A4 Scooter Store. Also my mate Ryan in Seattle, US is buying a Innocenti GP150 off of someone over here & shipping it back, so we are sorting out the details of this. He's offered to transport & loan a 200 Servetta for use down in Las Vegas as I maybe down there for work around that time.
1 February 01 It's all happening. Received the road tax for my SX200 so all I need now is a number plate & TRX 248D will be on the road (totally legal) Also everything from Taffspeed arrived, it's like Xmas!
31 January 01 As mentioned last week I've done a bit of a site revamp, got rid of all the java & javascript crap & standardised (somewhat) on the page layout. Got lights & power in the garage now. Bit more of a reorg and I'll be ready to start rebuilding the TS1.
30 January 01 Taffspeed called & all my stuff is ready & being shipped out. I've had the head centred & dowelled and won't be using any gaskets when I refit (just multi-gasket goop). Also took all the required paperwork down to VRO (Vehicle Registration Office) to get a registration number & tax disc for the SX200. Next (& final) step is to get a number plate.
29 January 01 Found a cheap bead blaster & powder coater near where I work. Thanks to Kelvin at A4 Scooter Store  for passing me on to Cox's of Whitely Road (0118 978 0289) Going to get the disk brake for the TS1 done and fan/head cowls for both the TS1 & the SX200.
28 January 01 Sent the Bitubo shock off to AF Rayspeed to get rebuilt.
26 January 01 Insurance for all scoots sorted - £117.40 (Carole Nash insurance - 0800 298 5500)
25 January 01 Checked with Taffspeed. The TS1 barrel has been ported & is being re-nicasiled. Turns out I need a new crank (£145) as the old one was early Italian with a 22.9mm big end pin. This won't take a Jap rod as standard so has to be machined etc. Easier (& around same price) to go for brand new. Also contacted AF Rayspeed who will rebuild my Bitubo shock with new seals, oil, nitrogen etc. for £25 + postage. It's coming together! Now need to get some parts powder coated (2 sets of fan/engine shrouds, front disk brake) & rebuild the front disk brake & fork links.
25 January 01  Just back from vacation & revitalised. Look out for a site revamp soon(ish)
15 January 01  Updated the TS1 page with details on heads & exhausts
12 January 01  Updated the SX200 pages with some pics of shipping damage.
11 January 01 Talked to a good mate yesterday who has a yellow super tuned Vespa 90 small frame. This has a Taffspeed built & dyno'ed genuine 75 mph engine, 4 speed gearbox, reed valve etc. Over £2000 invested in the bike (has receipts to prove). Looking for around $1200 or £800. So if your interested contact me (shipping to US can be arranged ~$500)
08 January 01  Carole Nash insurance in the UK rocks (0800 298 5500) To insure my 3 scoots, fully comprehensive, agreed value & roadside recovery  is £117! Best deal this year!!
06 January 01 OK finally got the engine out of my GP225 and removed the crank. The main web may be salvageable but the bearing & rod are shot . Sending all this off to Taffspeed, the barrel is getting a fast road tune, maybe re-welding and re-nicasiled ($$$)
05 January 01  Updated the parts diagrams so they actually display the clearer correct gifs. At some point I'll add the Innocenti parts list & numbers.
03 January 01  Started converting all the java applet "push" buttons to html. This is so people using non MS browsers can navigate the site properly. Only done the main page so far.
02 January 01 Got a brand new shed erected to store my scoots in now. Also a Lambretta 200 engine casing I'd ordered (£100 from Cambridge Lambretta Workshop) arrived today. Looks good and it came with an endplate, but no engine mountings or side casing. Innocenti stamped inside and where the engine number goes there's no engine number, just the two stars and the Innocenti mark. Anyway always handy to have around. Now I have the shed I'll move my other scoots up this weekend.
1 January 01

 Happy New Year.
