Lifes a lot better when you ride a Lambretta

29 November 2004 I've got a complete Lambretta Servetta LI150 (registered as 125) with 175 conversion and fresco performance exhaust for sale. 1979, loads of chrome, has the SX headset & TV style panels. New Continental tyres, 12V electronic ignition and wiring loom fitted, starts & runs great.
01 November 2004 A mate of mine, runs Scootouring.com and has a bunch of Italian scooters for sale imported from India/Pakistan (condition as would be expected). Although I've put a page up here, contact Greg for details and info. They're located in North America, near Seattle.
28 October 2004 After much struggling and swearing there is no way these cones are going in. I tested these on another frame with the same results. When fitted there's approx 1mm protruding either side leaving insufficient space for the engine to go back in, the taper is also different from standard with a large lip instead of a gentle taper. Talked to Allstyles and have been told they will go in but when they're this tight you need 2 people. I'll give it another go and update. It's also essential to fit them with the slots facing upwards and use loctite to resolve any "spinning" issues.
22 October 2004 Got a pair of the new concentric engine cones from Allstyles which should give more clearance to the TS1 manifold against the frame [1][2][3][4] Will fit them and let you know.
11 October 2004 TS1 is running again. It's been well thrashed so I checked and rebuilt the top end, new 4-plate clutch/10 springs. Fixed a couple of casing threads (M6x1.5) using recoil kit (works but bit pricey @ ~£25) Rebuilt and started 1st kick but as before it broke up 1/8-1/4 throttle, 2-4K revs. Changed the reeds, gaskets, bolts etc. (should've done this when I had the barrel off) - no difference. First 2 pics show a std TS1 manifold and a Yamaha one I was going to fit [1][2][3][4][5]. Checked the stator plate pick-up (red/white ~90 ohms - also green/white ~450 ohms) all OK. Turned out to be the  stator-pick up box, £15 Allstyles - sorted!
21September 2004 Frank Sanderson from Lambretta Innovations has given an update on the new Lambretta they're helping design. As everyone knows this will be using the Piaggio 250 4 stroke motor, supplied direct from the Piaggio factory and as fitted to the X9. It will also be fitted with 12 in wheels into a modified Lambretta frame using the methods he has developed making for existing series 4 kits. Frank is using the Piaggio engine linkages and once installed these look virtually identical to one of their kits, but it's wider in the rear top piece area to allow for the bigger engine. They're now putting all the electrics in place i.e. coil ,regulator etc and making good progress.
19September 2004 Added page which has original details for running in a Lambretta.
06 August 2004 Just received "The Complete Spanner’s Workshop Manual For: LAMBRETTA ‘SLIMSTYLE’ SCOOTERS" (cheers Sticky) What can I say - haven't been able to put it down!
03 August 2004 Looks like Pat @ the Saigon Scooter Centre are now offering a complete Lambretta rear hydraulic brake conversion for £250. Click here for details or there's a nice advert for it in Scootering August 2004. I like the idea of the swing arm connecting to the engine bolt rather than the engine mount, I've heard the engine mounting set-up knackers the rubber in the mounting due to stresses/strains etc.
01 August 2004 The Lost Souls Scooter Club web site is now on line, more updates coming when I have time/can be bothered.
27 July 2004 Been busy spending money buying scooter parts. Now have all components for Lambretta hydraulic clutch & rear brake conversion i.e. brake caliper, master cylinders, side casing and rear hub. Also replacement coil from Allstyles and known working stator & flywheel for the SS180 coming (Cheers Greg). May have one of my scooters running for IOW yet!
07 July 2004 "The Complete Spanner’s Workshop Manual For: LAMBRETTA ‘SLIMSTYLE’ SCOOTERS" is being printed on 21st July 2004.
05 July 2004 Had to borrow a mates P200E VeSpA (cheers Lost Soul Lee!) to get to Camber Sands. I'm not even going to talk about the TS1 and although the SS180 was running and insured it had no MOT, tax, registration, electrics (apart from dodgy ignition) and knowing my luck it either (a) wouldn't make it and/or (b) I'd get nicked. Anyway I had to leave Saturday night for a friends party in Croydon and got a puncture 2 miles outside Rye, luckily it was pissing down with rain! Coming home on Sunday I got another puncture close-ish to home, fortunately not on the M25. Bloody scooters I hate them!! Good weekend though - "Days of Speed and Slow time Mondays" though if you know what I mean.
28 June 2004 Check out Northern Soul Radio - excellent stuff (Real Player required)
26 June 2004 Sad to say Lambretta (& VeSpA) tuning legend, Terry Frankland of Taffspeed Racing has passed away.
28 May 2004 Email from Richard mentions the GT186 kits are very nearly ready (about 14 days left in the machine shop to finish parts for the first 100) All prices are on the GranTurismo web site. Update 16 June: here's some exclusive pics [1] [2]
20 May 2004 I ain't much of a footie fan but went to see the film "Football Factory" last night which was excellent. No actual football in it, just hooligans, drugs and violence. Also the new Adidas ad is out for the World Cup in Portugal. This has various players riding along, collecting more and more people until there are tons of classic scooter-riding soccer superstars. Its pretty long, just click on "view file" from here: http://www.skylarkhigh.co.uk/road_to_lisbon.html
10 May 2004 Went down to Goodwood yesterday, good turn out and well set up by Talismen SC. Some interesting scoots including a Yamaha "R2" which had 1/2 a RD350YPVS barrel stuck on a Lammie engine! Got some pics so will post sometime soon. Dragged the TS1 out of the shed last week and it started 3rd kick after sitting there for 7 months!
29 April 2004 SS180 now running, need to cable it up, get it through MOT, insure and register it. Updated the bearings/seals page with some real anorak information! Also added VIN information to a new page.
15 April 2004 Sheared a woodruff key on the V****, flywheel side. Also changed points but need to setup timing, no reason why it shouldn't start/run this weekend. Planning a complete overhaul of the TS1 including bare metal respray, may be ready for IOW, may not.
31 March 04 SS180 (VesPA) almost running, no free time, gutted I have no scoot running. Lost Souls SC web site coming sometime ... soon ...
10 March 04 Added section on headset routes for cabling and some information on the best way I've found to build a TS1 clutch to avoid slippage, crap release etc.
09 March 04 Bit of data on disk link differences
22 February 04 Finished off the how to for the Lambretta disk brake overhaul/rebuild
15 February 04 Added a couple of rev counters including the Koso and GPT to the TS1 page. Nearly finished the SS180 engine rebuild (no pics on this one!) The Lambretta hydraulic clutch conversion is very slowly taking shape.
13 February 04 Got an email from Sticky regarding his new upcoming book "The Complete Spanner's Workshop Guide To Lambretta Slimstyle Scooters" (working title!) This is intended to a Haynes-style manual with colour pics, wiring diagrams and lots of the updates since the original one. It also features photos dedicated to identifying different chassis/engine components and has been produced with the help of Nigel Cox, Dean Orton and Mark Broadhurst.
12 February 04 Updated the torque settings page with a load of additional information derived from the SIL Indian GP 150/200 workshop manual. Thanks to Sticky for these.
10 February 04 Got some updated pictures of the new Gran Turismo 185 kit which is nearly ready for production release [1][2][3][4][5]
13 January 04 Updated the carbs page to include a Mikuni tuning guide (huge 24MB .pdf) another TS1 carb/exhaust configuration and a diagram illustrating the effect of different throttle openings on jets/needles etc.
09 January 04 Got some additional information from Alex who runs the Lambretta.li web site. The simonini engine [1] has a 260ccm barrel from a simonini ultralight plane (http://www.simonini-flying.com/mini3_eng.htm) but uses a longer stroke crank along with some other modifications. First tests on the dyno gave 30 HP however they've upgraded the clutch and performed some other modifications including a new exhaust and it now gives approx. 35 HP! There is a movie from a quartermile run in Stockach (Germany) in June 2003 (http://www.lambretta.li/simonini/worbel-thomasd.avi) The Simonini engine is in the grey Series II Lambretta, the other scooter belongs to Andi Wrobel from Worb5 and is 370ccm.  The rotax engine [2] is not finished yet. This uses a a barrel from a rotax bombadier skidoo with a displacement of 277 ccm. The engine is nearly finished (inlet manifold to be made) and they expect this engine to be stronger. The bore and stroke will be changed to give 317 ccm, but firstly they will prove the first engine works.
07 January 04 Exotic cylinder conversions - rotax/simonini? - unreal but superb Lambretta engineering can be found at Lambretta.li [1][2]
06 January 04 Here's a link to the Madspeed performance web site.
05 January 04 After much discussion, here's the new Lambretta!
04 January 04 Few pics from Frank Sanderson of Lambretta Laboratory of the series 4 chassis auto conversion and CNC machined double front disk which is now anodised silver and has a better finish [1][2][3]
